Appreciate these reflections on the dump. When I lived on the island of Nantucket off the east coast of USA, it was the first time I’d encountered the community dump feeling. The Saturday hours were festive and the “take it or leave it” was the center of the festivity. A small shack filled with things people didn’t want anymore, but knew had value to someone else. It was wonderful. Now I live in a small Vermont town where we drop off trash together on Saturday but it’s car-centric: drive in, drop, drive out. A palpable loss!
I'm not religious but I always love visiting a Quaker house. They're so nice. Will need to check this cafe out.
