I just made the chicory! I've never made anything like it before, it was wonderful, both in the cooking and the eating.

This time of year, I get what my grandfather called 'the flits'. It's a desire to be Out out, and to be seen, and feel like I am really alive and in the world. Possibly similar to what drives other animals in the spring! Sometimes it feels like a bubbly inner restlessness- but a pleasant, not anxious experience. London in the spring is a fantastic place.

I'm also sorry to hear about your family news Rebecca. Sending love and fortitude.

I recently learnt that starch inhibits crispness in roast potatoes and if you wash three times it helps - it really does ! Try it next time -
